Responsibilities and Qualifications As part of the MULTIBIOMINE program, you will develop computational methods that utilize novel strategies to reveal hidden features in large microbiome datasets. These features include the weapons and shields that bacteria use when fighting each other: antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance. In the Genomic Epidemiology research group, your main task will be to develop and validate novel computational tools for analyzing microbiome metagenomic data Publish peer-reviewed research articles on microbiological discoveries and bioinformatics tools Present and discuss research results at relevant national and international conferences Assist in teaching courses and/or co-supervise M.Sc. and/or B.Sc. students in your area of specialization Visiting Denmark Interdisciplinary partners at home and abroad and collaborate with them You must have a two-year Master’s degree (120 ECTS credits) or a similar degree at an academic level equivalent to a two-year Master’s degree. Master’s degree in bioinformatics, computer science, data science or a closely related field Relevant “life sciences” interests and courses, e.g. molecular biology/genetics/microbiology Experience writing and running data analysis scripts in a command line interface Solid programming experience in the following areas High-performance compiled languages such as Rust or C++ Suitable scripting languages for data science and statistics: Python, R, MATLAB Strong written and verbal English communication skills Experience with the following is desirable: mySQL, computational workflow manager, clustering techniques, network graph analysis, git, Github, antimicrobial resistance and omics data
