Recruitment for a PhD position in Stress Inoculation at the University of Groningen

job description

apply here:

Do you want to contribute to groundbreaking research that pushes scientific boundaries? Are you looking for a PhD position where you can translate your curiosity into concrete research results and papers? If so, a PhD position in psychology at the University of Groningen (UG) may be just what you are looking for! As a PhD student in Developmental Psychopathology, you will have the opportunity to develop your own insights, collect data, and share your findings with scientific peers and professional practice partners around the world. Under the guidance of your mentor, you’ll work with a motivated team to research meaningful solutions and contribute to the future of your field. Stress disorders such as anxiety and depression are among the most heavily burdened disorders in society. The current mainstay of treatment for these disorders is to treat people when they already have a severe stress disorder. It would be a great step forward if we could develop a “vaccine” or “inoculum” for treating stress disorders that would provide people with specific stressors early in their lives and help them train appropriate stress responses. This is the goal of the Stress Inoculant program: to develop and validate a theory of stress based on how children develop healthy stress responses to everyday stressors, leading to effective prevention of stress disorders. We are looking for candidates with a background in developmental or clinical psychology, specializing in the development of psychopathology, and ideally also with expertise in systematic reviews, qualitative and/or quantitative analyses (including dynamic assessment, time series analysis).
