Join Radboud University as a Postdoctoral Researcher leading the ScaleUA project — an international Horizon Europe initiative aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s technological infrastructure and shaping Europe’s innovation, strategy, and governance.

This project is part of the Horizon Europe coordination and support action, focusing on rebuilding and integrating Ukraine’s technological infrastructure into the European innovation ecosystem. The project involves innovation system analysis, infrastructure mapping, governance design, and investment priority setting in three strategic areas: energy, digital technologies, and health.

The project is coordinated by Radboud University and implemented by an international consortium of academic, policy, and industry partners from Ukraine and various European countries. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will play a central role in project operations, embedded in an international, policy-oriented research environment at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and public governance.

Your main responsibilities include:
– Leading the operational coordination of the project.
– Coordinating consortium partners and promoting overall project coherence.
– Contributing to the design of the project’s analytical framework.
– Co-developing and supporting research activities related to governance models, investment prioritization, and EU alignment pathways.
– Assisting in translating research findings into policy-relevant insights and recommendations.
– Drafting policy reports and analytical outputs for stakeholders.
– Supporting stakeholder engagement activities (workshops and pilot projects).
– Contributing to academic publications based on project work.

offer requirements

We are looking for candidates with strong analytical skills who can work in a complex policy-relevant research environment. You should have:
– A PhD (or near completion) in strategic studies, economics, innovation studies, political economy, public policy, or a closely related field.
– Demonstrated experience in research on innovation systems, infrastructure, governance, or industrial policy.
– Excellent qualitative and/or mixed-methods research skills.
– Outstanding writing abilities, capable of producing both academic and policy-oriented outputs.
– Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and coordinate with international partners.
– Interest in applied research at the intersection of academia, policy, and societal impact.
– Experience with EU-funded projects, policy-oriented research, or post-crisis/transition contexts is an advantage (not required).
– Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian language skills is a plus.
