PhD Position in Interdisciplinary MathematicsProject DescriptionThe Center for Interdisciplinary Mathematics (CIM) at Uppsala University conducts interdisciplinary research that links the mathematical sciences with other areas of science and industry.The CIM provides training and expertise in mathematical modeling and computer simulation, and has a Graduate School since 2013; for more details, see the CIM’s webpage. We are now recruiting up to three PhD students who will join CIM’s Graduate School to work on proposed research projects. Current PhD programs can be found on the CIM webpage.

To meet the entry requirements for the PhD program, you must hold a Master’s (second stage) degree in a field related to interdisciplinary mathematical research or have completed at least 240 credits in higher education, with at least 60 credits at the Master’s level, including an independent project worth at least 15 credits, or have otherwise gained substantially equivalent knowledge. Candidates are expected to be interested in applied mathematics and/or developing models in an interdisciplinary context. Candidates with backgrounds in other scientific fields (e.g., chemistry or biology) but with a strong aptitude and interest in mathematical modeling are also encouraged to apply. Acceptance as a PhD student in the Center for Interdisciplinary Mathematics is conditional on acceptance as a PhD student in the relevant faculty at Uppsala University.
