Job description

The Institute for Cancer Research, Department of Molecular Cell Biology at Oslo University Hospital is currently recruiting one postdoctoral research fellow. This position is funded by the Norwegian Cancer Society. The research project is titled “Characterization of novel mitophagy regulatory factors in metabolic reprogramming during tumor development (MiRMet)”, belonging to the Autophagy group, which is also part of the Centre for Cancer Cell Reprogramming (CanCell).

The position is fixed-term for 3 years. Starting date: March 1, 2026.

The main objectives of the MiRMet project are: to mechanistically elucidate how dysfunctional mitochondria are recognized and directed to lysosomal degradation under hypoxic and OXPHOS conditions; and to characterize the role of mitophagy in metabolic reprogramming during tumor cell and tumor microenvironment (TME) cell development in tumorigenesis.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in biochemistry and/or molecular cell biology experimental fields, with proficient mastery of the following techniques: cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9-based genome editing, protein expression and interaction analysis, confocal microscopy, and live-cell imaging. At the same time, bioinformatics knowledge is required. Candidates should also possess strong data analysis and result presentation skills, as well as good communication and organizational abilities.

We are looking for highly proactive individuals who can work independently and complete the project within the specified timeframe. The candidate may participate in student supervision. Particular emphasis is placed on teamwork ability and personal qualities.
