Job description

The Department of Economics invites applications for postdoctoral researchers to join its research group “Agricultural and Food Economics”. The focus of the postdoctoral project will be on the impact of adopting farming practices on the farm-level economy in the light of environmental sustainability, and in particular on estimating the economic consequences of the transition using simulation methods. The postdoctoral project will also examine how farmers and the processing industry can work together to promote the adoption of more sustainable farming practices by farmers. The position is part of two externally funded research projects; one by the collaborative research center SustAinimal and the other by a research project funded by the Swedish Farmers’ Agricultural Research Foundation (SFARF) entitled “Transition Strategies for Economically Viable Environmental Sustainability at the Farm Level”. The position will include significant interaction with food system participants. Teaching and mentoring at Bachelor and Master level (up to 20% of full time) and participation in external research funding applications are also expected.

Applicants should have a background and PhD in Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics or Economics and an understanding of quantitative analytical methods. Applicants should have a background in agricultural economics or food economics. Applicants should be highly motivated to work in one of the above postdoctoral programs, used to working on their own initiative and in a team, and should have experience in publishing in high-quality scientific journals. Good English language skills (both written and oral) are required. In addition, applicants should have one or more of the following qualifications: experience and interest in conducting interdisciplinary and/or multidisciplinary research, experience in sustainability measurement in agriculture and food, experience in collaboration between research and food system participants, experience in data processing and empirical analysis. Individual competencies will play an important role in recruitment.
