Working in a beautiful Scandinavian city, you will enjoy a competitive salary, a collaborative work environment, and strong connections to academia and industry. Chalmers is a great university for young researchers to grow up in, offering a wide range of skills and career development opportunities. The team also offers opportunities to teach, mentor and write proposals for your career development. Project OverviewThe position is fully funded but not tied to any specific project. This provides you with great flexibility to carry out your own research while maintaining quality. You will work with a passionate and ambitious team that is committed to improving the efficiency and sustainability of future transportation systems. Topics we are interested in include, but are not limited to, connected and self-driving cars shared mobility (e.g., ride-hailing and microtransit) traffic control transportation systems electrification any other ITS topic that you find appealing. We expect you to be a motivated and ambitious researcher who emphasizes quality over quantity. If you are already an independent researcher or are growing into one, we will give preference. English is the working language and therefore candidates are required to have strong oral and written communication skills in English. You will carry out your research in the research area of urban transportation systems in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Main duties The main duties of a postdoc are to carry out research, but also to contribute to education, such as teaching and supervision (which only takes up a small amount of time). You will also be expected to participate in group activities (e.g. research meetings), so you will be expected to work both independently and with a team to increase productivity. Applicants should have a PhD in Transportation, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a similar field. Experience with optimization, data-driven or machine learning skills is preferred. Candidates must have earned a PhD prior to enrollment, but this is not required during the application period. This means that we also welcome graduating PhD students to apply for the position, but we expect candidates to join us in Fall 2025 or earlier, with some flexibility. Preference will be given to candidates who have received their PhD within the last three years.
